Commissioning

 

This is the often misunderstood and under utilized of process of commissioning a piece of custom furniture created for a specific place, function or person. The process can be as simple as adapting the design of a previously made piece. For example, altering dimensions of a previously designed table to be larger or smaller to fit a unique space.

 

Or the process can the a completely from scratch original creation. With this option, a design is developed to meet the specific needs and desires of a client. Here the options truly are unlimited. The process begins with collaboration and input from the client to establish the desired feel, look and function for a piece. I then produce a concept, including detailed drawings and description of the proposed design, for approval by the client. Upon approval, schedule and payment terms are finalized.

 

Although this process is foreign to many, it is in fact the most exciting and interesting process for everyone involved to create a piece of furniture. The results are a truly bespoke piece of functional wooden art uniquely suited to you.
